About Steve's Photos

Welcome to Steve's Photos (dot) org, the original, nearly ancient online home of Steve Rider's photo collection. I'm Steve, and I'll be your web host today.

Steve's Photos is provided as a free service by Steve's Web Hosting.

Steve also hosts his photos, especially newer ones, on several other commercial photo sites, including Flickr, SmugMug and Picasa Web. The images shown below are linked to the photo galleries on these sites. Many of Steve's newer photos are also geotagged, as can be seen on any of these three photo sharing sites.

SmugMug

Currently SmugMug is Steve's favorite web-based photo sharing site. This is because of the extremely good looking themes available on SmugMug. There is also the fact that their display of geotagging data is superior to all others, the maps they show are as good looking as everything else on the site. We highly recommend SmugMug. See our photos there at http://steverider.smugmug.com/.

Flickr

Flickr is undoubtedly the most popular photo sharing website in the world. The primary advantage of hosting your photos on Flickr is that a greater number of people are likely to see them. Flickr has a lot of other strong points going for it, you could do lots worse than hosting photos on Flickr.

Picasa Web

Of the three major photo hosting services Picasa Web seems to be the least fascinating, least attractive, and least useful. However using Picasa Web does give you the opportunity to make the super-rich billionaires who founded Google even richer, if that is what you'd like to do. Picasa Web does support geotagging photos, but the display of where they were taken is least attractive, and the option to use geotag data in the EXIF fields of your photos is carefully hidden and defaults to off. Yawn.
